How to add the app to your phone

Book & Row runs in the browser, but once you add it to your home screen it behaves like a normal app. It takes a few seconds and needs no app store.

Why bother

  • On iPhone, notifications only work once the app sits on the Home Screen. Without it, none arrive.
  • It opens full screen, without the address bar and tabs.
  • An icon on your screen instead of typing the address, and pages load faster.

iPhone and iPad

iOS 26 · Safari only - Chrome and Firefox on iPhone cannot do this

  1. 1 Open bookandrow.com in Safari and sign in.
  2. 2 Tap the three dots to the right of the address bar, then Share.
  3. 3 Scroll the list and choose Add to Home Screen.
  4. 4 Leave Open as Web App on and tap Add. The icon lands on your screen.

Cannot see that entry? Scroll the share list to the very bottom and tap 'Edit Actions' to switch it on.

Android

Chrome · other browsers look similar

  1. 1 Open bookandrow.com in Chrome and sign in.
  2. 2 Tap the three dots to the right of the address bar.
  3. 3 Choose Add to Home screen, then Install.

Sometimes Chrome shows an install banner at the bottom by itself - tap it and skip the rest.

Turn notifications on

Notifications are off by default - the club does not reach anyone who did not ask for it. Once the app is on your screen, open it from there, not from the browser, and do three things:

  1. 1 Go to Profile and switch Notifications on.
  2. 2 Keep the categories you care about ticked and save.
  3. 3 Tap Enable on this device and accept the system prompt.

The permission covers one device. On a second phone or a computer you have to grant it again.
